If for some reason you are unable to use our online ordering facility please contact us by
telephone, email or post. If there is a Scout, Guide or Craft item you cannot find in the on-line catalogue please contact us. We have an extensive knowledge of the market and of equipment manufacturers/suppliers and will advise whether we are able to source the item for you.
TO ORDER ON LINEItems available to buy online will have an "ADD" button - simply click on this button to add a single item or to increase the quantity from 1 if necessary. The shopping cart shows your accumulated order and cost. It also allows you to change quantities or remove items. After selection simply complete the on-line order form and submit. You will receive an immediate electronic confirmation of receipt. This automated e-mail acknowledgement does not mean that the company has accepted your order. For products listed on this site acceptance of your order is confirmed either by despatch or a request for payment. For special products a price will be notified to you and your order will be confirmed after your acceptance of that price has been received. Non-acceptance of your order will be advised to you by e-mail. See below regarding order cancellation or amendment.
In order to minimise postage and packing costs we endeavour wherever possible to only despatch complete orders and we may delay despatch for a day where receipt of any out of stock item is expected. When a compete order is not fully available we will, unless advised on the order form, despatch immediately the available items with the balance to follow later. All orders are subject to a charge for postage and packing. Details of these are given below.
Orders placed by a customer with a valid credit account will, unless instructed otherwise, be despatched without the total cost including packing and delivery being advised. Orders placed by a customer without a valid credit account will be prepared and the total cost involved advised by e-mail. The order will then be held until clear payment has been received. Overseas orders can be accepted for most categories of items but the customer will be responsible for any additional costs including but not limited to:- import charges/duty, customs inspection fees.
Online orders to SGS Outdoors are regarded at law as "an invitation to treat", a contract is only formed once we have responded to your invitation to treat and sent to you confirmation of acceptance of your order.
By using this online order system you certify that you are aged 18 or above.
The purchase of certain items is restricted to warranted Scout and Guide Leaders. Non-account holders requesting any of these items may be asked for evidence of their entitlement to purchase these products.

The goods remain the property of The Company until paid for in full.
All sales are governed by United Kingdom law and the language used in any communications will be English.
PRICESAll the prices shown are inclusive of VAT. You will be advised of any additional delivery cost before the order is finalised.
The prices shown on the web pages are accurate to the best of our knowledge at time of publication but SGS Outdoors are under no obligation to maintain the advertised price in the event of incorrect prices being shown for whatever reason (e.g. our suppliers have changed their price to us or human/computer error).
Whilst the company makes every effort to ensure prices displayed on the website are accurate and up to date we reserve the right at any time to change a price. Price changes may be due to increasing currency exchange rates, unpredictable regulations, unexpected increases in the finished product or technical or clerical errors made in publishing the price.
DESCRIPTIONSAll items are described to the best of our knowledge and ability, however occasional slight variations may occur. Items failing to meet your expectations will be replaced or refunded.
The online catalogue is intended for purchasers familiar with Scout and Guide products and, at present, no descriptions or photos are provided on-line. If you are unsure of your requirements then you should seek advice from someone familiar with the products such as a Scout/Guide leader or by contacting SGS Outdoors.
PRODUCT STANDARDSProducts listed and available to the general public from this website are approved to the relevant British safety standards. No undertaking is given as regards conformity to the requirements of other legislatures.
Please read and follow any instructions provided with the items you purchase and ensure safety at all times. If in doubt seek advice from a Scout or Guide leader or from SGS Outdoors
For clothing care and cleaning please read and follow any instruction provided with the items you purchase. SGS Outdoors can provide additional cleaning, repair or maintenance advice and products upon request.
CHANGES TO THE ORDEROnce you have placed your order you may change or cancel any items up to the point of despatch by contacting SGS Outdoors by telephone or e-mail (in normal UK weekday working hours). If your order is for products requiring a special / individual order from our suppliers ( e.g. scarves, name tapes etc. ) we reserve the right to invoice you for those items if you cancel the order after you have confirmed your acceptance of our price offer. We will however make reasonable efforts to minimise any cost to you.
PAYMENTPayment can be accepted by switch, credit card, cheque ( with a guarantee card ) or cash. Credits cards are only accepted payment for amounts in excess of £5.00.
We are prepared to open credit accounts for Groups or individual leaders. Please ask for details and an application form.
DESPATCHFor customers with approved credit facilities - subject to stock availability orders received before 12.00 on working days (before 11.00 on Saturdays) will be despatched the same day. Orders received after 12.00 (or 11.00 on Saturdays) will be despatched during the next working day.
For other customers - We will advise you by e-mail of the total payment required and, subject to stock availability, your order will be despatched within two working days following receipt of cleared payment.
Orders may be placed for personal collection from the Shop. If the order is being collected payment must be made either by switch, credit card, cash or cheque with a guarantee card.

Most orders to UK mainland destinations will be despatched by either Royal Mail or Parcel Force Services. We reserve right to despatch orders by a road transport carrier service of our choice where this is justified financially. If road transport is to be used details of this will be advised to you by e-mail. Packages will only be despatched by first class post, next day or courier services if specifically instructed and the additional costs incurred will be recharged to you at cost. Unless specifically designated overseas orders will be despatched by the most economical method available and the actual packing and delivery costs will be advised to you for payment to be included with the remittance for the order.
Any discrepancies, shortages or errors in the consignment must be notified in writing within 5 days of the receipt of the order. E & O. E.
DELIVERY CHARGES
We feel it is unfair to customers with small or lightweight orders to apply one standard delivery charge to any order. For these orders we make a small charge to cover administration costs and this amount will be added to the actual cost of despatching the order. Our administration charges are :-

Packages up to 750 gms will be charged at the cost of postage plus the administration charge detailed above up to a maximum charge of £2.95.
Packages between 750 gms and 2 kgs will be charged at the cost of postage plus the administration charge detailed above up to a maximum charge of £4.95.
Packages over 2 kgs will be charged at £4.95.
Where an order is spread over more than one package each package will be charged as an individual package
DELIVERY FAILUREIf the carrier has tried to make a delivery to you and leaves you a card advising you of that fact and asking you to contact them or arrange collection or re-delivery you must contact them promptly. Failure to do so may result in the goods being returned to us or destroyed by the carrier. Unless the goods are returned to us in re-saleable condition you remain responsible for the costs of the goods. If the goods are returned to us due to non-delivery you remain responsible for the postage and delivery charges together with any charges made to us for the return.If delivery has NOT been made by the date SGS Outdoors advise, please contact us urgently in order that we can establish whether there has been a problem.
RETURNSIf you are not satisfied with the goods sent, or would like to return them, please contact SGS Outdoors within 7 days of receipt advising us of your reasons for returning the items. Please do not return items without contacting the company first. The costs for the return will be reimbursed to you if the return is required due to errors made by SGS Outdoors in processing or despatching your order.
LOYALTY BONUS SCHEMESGS Outdoors operates a Bonus Scheme rewarding Scout and Guide groups for purchasing carried out with us by their leaders, parents and supporters. All purchases made that can be identified with a Group are added together and a £5.00 voucher to spend with SGS Outdoors is sent to the Group for every £100 spent by supporters. To facilitate the operation of this scheme non-account holders are asked to provide details of the Group or District with which they are associated. Full details of the scheme are available upon request.
PRIVACYTo comply with statutory requirements and to be able to deal with post-sales queries, once the order is complete your order details will be stored on the company's computers or archived to computer disk or paper filing. Past order details are not available to customers on-line but a customer may request a copy by email subject to their providing sufficient information to identify the order and to evidence of identity and authority to access this data. Unless specifically requested otherwise the company may use your address details to contact you in future to offer similar goods or services. Your contact details will not be passed to any third party.
DIFFICULTIES WITH ON-LINE ORDERINGThis website has been tested and demonstrated to be fully functioning on hardware/software combinations used by the overwhelming majority of internet users. The variety of individual configurations is too great to guarantee that the e-commerce aspects in particular will function in 100% of cases. The Company will be pleased to handle orders by alternative means such as telephone, e-mail or post.

Additional Terms & Conditions for Orders invoiced and delivered outside the United KingdomThe prices shown on the site include UK Value Added Tax at the standard rate of 17.5% except for books, which are Zero-rated. For orders from outside the European Union the amount of tax will be deducted from the cost when the total value of the order is advised to you.
Unless otherwise instructed orders up to 2kg in weight will be despatched by Royal Mail parcel or letter service. Where orders total over 2kg a price for delivery by mail and/or international carrier will be advise on the order acknowledgement
When an order in the shopping basket is completed and placed with us an immediate acknowledgement will be e-mailed. This will be followed up within one working day by a detailed invoice outlining the full order cost including any packing and delivery charges. If the order has indicted a preference for payment by PayPal or debit/credit card the invoice will be sent direct from PayPal. If the order has indicated payment by other means an open invoice will be e-mailed to you.
Payment for orders may be made either by PayPal, cheque or inter bank transfer. If you wish to pay by bank transfer please advise us and we will provide account details.
When paying by PayPal you can use Visa, Visa Delta, Visa Electron, Switch/Maestro, Solo, MasterCard and American Express. Please note that American Express has decided to refuse credit card transactions in which an American Express Corporate Card is used with PayPal
Orders being despatched by Royal Mail service will be despatched within 3 working days of confirmation of cleared payment being received. Orders despatched by other means will be despatched within 5 working days.
All orders will be insured up to the standard level offered by the carrier. If additional insurance is required to cover the full value of the order including delivery costs etc. this should be indicated when the order is placed.
Confirmation of despatch will be e-mailed to you and this will include a general indication of delivery period.
It is the recipient's responsibility to ensure that any items ordered do not breach the import regulations for their country
The recipient will be liable for any customs/import duties and any other fees charged in connection with import/delivery apart from the pre-paid postage.
